Yamaya operates two main business segments: alcoholic beverage retail and food service. In the alcoholic beverage retail segment, Yamaya, Yamaya Kansai, and Yamaya East Japan conduct retail sales of alcoholic beverages and food products through physical stores and mail order. Additionally, Yamaya Shoryū procures products from manufacturers and wholesalers, then supplies them to Yamaya, Chimney, and Tsubohachi, while also engaging in wholesale and retail operations outside the group.
Yamakura Sake Brewery manufactures and wholesales alcoholic beverages and food products, from which Yamaya Shoryū sources its inventory. In the food service segment, Chimney operates izakayas (Japanese pubs) through consolidated subsidiaries including Beni Foods Corporation, Metchasakana ga Suki, and Ota Market Chimney. Tsubohachi similarly operates izakayas as its primary business through its consolidated subsidiary Tsubohachi Alcoholic Beverage Sales.
