<p>The company's basic policy is to set baseline shareholder returns at 50% of adjusted consolidated profit, and to increase total returns (dividends plus share buybacks) as profits grow. The company will increase dividends in principle in line with medium-term profit growth, and aims to raise the proportion of dividends within baseline returns. Dividends will be paid twice annually—as interim and year-end dividends. Retained earnings will be used to maintain financial soundness and fund investments in growth business areas.</p>
