Business Overview
OKM is a manufacturer and seller of fluid control equipment. The company primarily handles butterfly valves, which are widely used across various industries including construction, power generation, shipbuilding, and industrial plants. OKM operates through two consolidated subsidiaries: OKM VALVE(M)SDN.BHD. and Okumura Valve (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd.
OKM's business is divided into two market segments: "land-based" and "marine." In the land-based segment, the company provides products tailored to factory and building market needs. In the marine segment, it sells environmental compliance products based on its track record in the shipping market. Marine products, particularly exhaust gas treatment valves that comply with International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations, have earned high recognition.
OKM's products are used across diverse industries including HVAC systems, shipbuilding, semiconductors, oil, chemicals, steel, power generation, water utilities, and food processing. For example, all HVAC systems in Abeno Harukas, a supertall building in Osaka, use OKM valves. The company's products are widely deployed in high-rise buildings, factories, airports, ships, stations, domes, and amusement parks.
OKM's main products include butterfly valves, knife gate valves, and pinch valves. Butterfly valves enable space-efficient installation and excel at flow control. Knife gate valves can stop slurry and solid-containing fluids. Pinch valves feature complete shutoff capability even when solids are present.
OKM develops, manufactures, and sells customized valves to meet customer needs, opening niche markets that standard products cannot serve. By combining specifications, sizes, components, materials, and control methods, the company offers over 100,000 product variations, enabling it to meet diverse customer requirements.
OKM is committed to new product development and has established a research and development center in Yasu, Shiga Prefecture. The center features testing facilities designed to address decarbonization and environmental regulations, while strengthening collaboration among industry, government, and academia. This initiative aims to enhance OKM's fluid control research and development capabilities.
Management Policy
OKM has established "Creating good flow" as its corporate purpose and formulated the mid-to-long-term vision "Create200." This vision targets consolidated net sales of 20 billion yen and operating profit of 2 billion yen by fiscal year 2030, while working to sustainably enhance corporate value.
The company announced its "Second Medium-Term Management Plan" in May 2025. Positioned as the second phase of "Create200," this plan shifts management focus from sales expansion alone to emphasize profitability as well. Through selective prioritization of focus areas and optimization of resource allocation, the company aims to transition from transformation to growth.
OKM's basic strategy consists of three pillars. First, in expanding existing business domains, the company will deepen its domestic market presence through decarbonization-related products and higher value-added offerings, while strengthening its technical sales capabilities. Second, in expanding overseas markets, the company will accelerate global deployment centered on marine exhaust gas valves and LNG valves.
Additionally, in pursuing new business domains, the company will expand applications of valve technology, advance digital transformation initiatives, and commercialize IoT-enabled services to create new revenue streams. Through this diversification of the business portfolio, the company aims to achieve sustainable growth.
As financial targets for the final year of the second medium-term plan, the company has set consolidated net sales of 13.2 billion yen, an operating profit margin of 10% or higher, and ROE of 8–10%. These targets aim to establish a stable earnings foundation and enhance corporate value.
