Business Overview

Artience is a diversified corporate group consisting of 56 consolidated subsidiaries and 4 affiliates accounted for using the equity method. Artience's business is divided into five segments: colorants and functional materials, polymers and coating processing, packaging, printing and information, and other operations.

The colorants and functional materials segment handles organic pigments, processed pigments, plastic colorants, color filter materials, inkjet materials, and lithium-ion battery materials. Key domestic companies include Toyo Color and Toyo Visual Solutions.

The polymers and coating processing segment provides can coatings, resins, adhesives, pressure-sensitive adhesives, coating materials, natural materials, and medical products. Toyo Chem and Toyo Morton are the primary domestic operating companies.

The packaging segment handles gravure inks, flexographic inks, and gravure cylinder platemaking. Toyo Ink is the primary domestic company operating in this segment.

The printing and information segment provides offset inks, metallic inks, printing machinery, printing equipment, prepress systems, and printing materials. Key domestic companies include Toyo Ink and Matsui Kagaku.

Other operations include raw material sales, service provision, real estate rental management, and holding company functions for subsidiaries. Artience itself and Toyo B-Net are the primary domestic companies in this segment.

Artience provides a wide range of products and services domestically and internationally, maintaining competitive strength in global markets. Each business segment works in coordination with related companies at home and abroad to meet diverse industry needs.

Management Policy

Starting January 1, 2024, Artience has adopted a new corporate name and management philosophy to drive its growth strategy. The new name "artience" combines "art" and "science," reflecting the company's commitment to creating value through both creativity and technology. Under this philosophy, Artience aims to contribute to a sustainable society and build a prosperous future.

Artience's medium-term management plan "artience2027/2030 'GROWTH'" targets 2030 as its endpoint, with three priority areas: transforming the business portfolio, maximizing capital efficiency and cash flow, and building corporate foundations with sustainable management practices. The company specifically aims to improve ROE, targeting 8.0% or higher by 2026 and 10.0% or higher by 2029.

Artience is advancing three key initiatives: increasing profitability in existing businesses, creating strategically focused new businesses, and transforming management foundations. The company is concentrating resources in the mobility and battery sectors, as well as display and advanced electronics, to generate new revenue streams. Additionally, environment, biotechnology, and energy are positioned as next-generation businesses with strategic resource allocation.
