Business Overview
Wood Friends operates four main business segments: Housing, Leisure, Urban Development, and Other Operations. In the Housing segment, the company plans, designs, constructs, and sells detached single-family homes. It also provides design and construction services for custom homes, as well as housing renovation services. Additionally, the company manufactures and sells construction materials. Related subsidiaries in this segment include Real Wood Marketing Inc., Forest Note Inc., Wood Construction Inc., and Lumber Land Inc.
The Leisure segment handles facility operations through designated management contracts and hotel operations. Specifically, Forest Park Golf Course Management Inc. operates golf courses and related facilities to enhance recreational opportunities. This segment aims to provide recreation services to local communities.
The Urban Development segment develops revenue-generating real estate, manages rental operations, and provides building maintenance services. Wood Friends and Property Wood Inc. operate in this segment, focusing on enhancing real estate value in urban areas and securing stable revenue streams. Through these efforts, the company promotes urban revitalization and sustainable development.
Other Operations include advertising services. Wood Friends directly manages this segment, supporting corporate brand enhancement and marketing activities. This helps companies increase brand awareness and strengthen their competitive position in the market.
Management Policy
Wood Friends is pursuing sustainable growth by optimizing the allocation of management resources and promoting independent development across its business divisions. In June 2024, the company transitioned to a holding company structure and spun off its housing business to strengthen governance. This restructuring aims to improve return on invested capital for each business division and realize a "wood resource cascade business" that leverages regional forestry.
In the housing business, the company is addressing excess inventory while working to restore profitability through a review of land acquisition standards, product improvements, and cost reduction initiatives. The company is also promoting the use of domestically produced laminated timber and shifting the basic strategy of its detached housing business toward "high value-added" offerings, enabling selective expansion in specific areas and locations. In the non-residential sector, the company is strengthening sales activities to expand orders for mid-scale timber construction projects.
In the leisure business, the company secures stable revenue through golf course and hotel operations while exploring new business opportunities. In the urban business, the company is increasing the proportion of invested capital centered on the "Nobunaga Fund" and promoting urban revitalization through the development and rental management of income-generating real estate. Through these initiatives, Wood Friends aims to achieve sustainable growth and contribute to regional communities.
