Business Overview
THK is a corporate group consisting of 38 subsidiaries and 3 affiliated companies. It operates primarily through two business segments: industrial equipment and transportation equipment. The industrial equipment segment manufactures and sells mechanical component parts and industrial machinery, centered on linear motion systems.
Linear motion systems are used in the linear motion sections of mechanical equipment and enable high-speed, high-precision operation. These systems significantly reduce friction and offer excellent energy-saving performance. They are adopted across a wide range of applications, including machine tools, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, amusement equipment, and seismic isolation and damping devices.
The transportation equipment segment develops, designs, manufactures, and sells steering components, suspension components, and brake components for automobiles and motorcycles. This contributes to improved safety and performance of transportation equipment.
In Japan, THK sells directly to machine tool manufacturers, industrial robot makers, and semiconductor equipment manufacturers. Subsidiaries such as THK Intex and THK Niigata handle manufacturing. THK Rhythm manufactures and sells ball joints for transportation equipment makers.
In the Americas, THK America handles sales while THK Manufacturing of America manages manufacturing. Subsidiaries including THK RHYTHM NORTH AMERICA manufacture and sell linkage balls and suspension ball joints.
In Europe, THK GmbH and THK France handle sales, while THK Manufacturing of Europe manages manufacturing. THK RHYTHM AUTOMOTIVE manufactures and sells transportation equipment component parts. THK CAPITAL and THK FINANCE manage the group's finance operations.
In China, THK (China) Investment Co., Ltd. handles sales, while companies such as Dalian THK Wazhu Industrial manage manufacturing. Subsidiaries including those in Guangzhou manufacture and sell transportation equipment component parts.
In other regions, THK TAIWAN and THK LM SYSTEM handle sales, while THK MANUFACTURING OF VIETNAM manages manufacturing. THK India and San益 THK handle both sales and manufacturing.
Management Policy
THK supplies the world with essential mechanical components that enable machines to move in straight lines with lightness and precision. Since its founding, THK has contributed to industrial development through products such as the LM Guide. THK's growth strategy is built on three pillars: "Global Expansion" to extend geographic reach, "New Market Development" to expand application areas, and "Business Model Innovation" leveraging AI and IoT.
In global expansion, THK is building an integrated sales and manufacturing structure at four poles—Japan, the Americas, Europe, and Asia—while strengthening sales networks and production capacity in China and emerging markets. In new market development, THK is expanding into sectors including automotive, medical devices, aircraft, and service robots, centered on the LM Guide. In business model innovation, THK is transforming its business approach through the application of AI and IoT.
THK envisions itself as a "manufacturing services company" and aims to broaden its customer touchpoints. Through this approach, THK contributes to solving challenges for both machine builders and machine users while advancing product development. To improve profitability, THK is pursuing "selective focus" in its business portfolio and targeting early achievement of ROE exceeding 10%. These efforts aim to enhance corporate value and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
